Buffalo Berries grow on a thorny shrub or bush that is about 8 feet high. They thorns are long and very sharp, making it a challenge to pick. We have had several days of frost at night already, but I found that they berries were still firmly attached. I wore rubberized gloves but still received some painful pricks to the hand. The bushes were loaded as you can see from the pictures, but even so the Berries are very small and it takes quite a few to add up. Placed them in water in the sink and removed any floaters as well as leaves. Some small pieces of the stem with berries still attached were not removed. All told the haul was 1.3kg. Will use these berries as the base for a batch of wine. Recipe to follow for subscribers.
